Yamhill County, located in the heart of Oregon’s Wine Country, has so much to offer visitors and tourists. Its attractions range from being an internationally renowned wine region, hosting the International Pinot Noir Convention, to housing Howard Hughes’ Spruce Goose. Shopping and dining are much more upscale than many would imagine. This combined with the county’s laid back and casual nature; makes Yamhill County a comfortable and enjoyable community to visit or to live.
The wine country lifestyle centers on the many wineries that dot the countryside. With over 250 wineries, from grand estate to boutique style facilities, there is always an unlimited supply of wine and food pairing events, wine tours, education, shopping and music to enjoy. There is no shortage of special events anytime of the year.
Many “locals” in the communities surrounding Abbey Road Farm have come from a more hurried lifestyle out of state, retreating to the beautiful farms and small town feel the local cities like McMinnville and Carlton offer. Some locals enjoy nurturing their personal gardens, as well as goats, chickens, lamas and turkeys that live on their farms. Abbey Road Farm is no exception, where the Chicken Coop and Buck Barn house a variety of farm animals.
Yamhill County is a place to live and entertain, yet still within an hour’s drive of the big City. Portland is a major metropolitan setting with an international airport, symphony, theater and fine dining. The best part of heading into Portland for the day or evening is that you get to return to the peacefulness that only a small farming community can offer.
